Hey,

Thanks for the advice, I installed the Windows Update drivers for sound. It still says "No Audio Device". But now when i go to my Device Manager it has:

C-Media AC97 Audio Device

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

Any idea?

Now I read on some sites that the C-Media is the wrong driver, Windows Update throws that at you for some reason. Downloading a diagnostic program to see if I can find exact chipset..

the error seems to be caused by having the wrong drivers installed, from what i could find.

I suppose i might need more information to figure this out.

Did this error recently start? did you recently obtain this computer? did you install vista on the computer? (from what it looks like your computer seems to be this http://www.emachines.com/suppo...t=T-Series&model=T1600)
apparently they have tech support links on the site o_O.

Since most computer errors have been seen before, if you have time you can find answers on many search engines such as google.

also via seems to have a forum
http://forums.viaarena.com/cat...che=3011908&entercat=y

without being there, and my limited abilities, i can only guess at what might be wrong :(

if you know the exact manufacturer of your via motherboard (ie epox) maybe you should try downloading they're drivers for it.

Hello,

I put my HDD from my main computer into this old one (its PSU died) and booted it up. So it had the Realtek sht from old system. I removed all that.

VIA 8233/8235/8237

That is my chipset.

I went to the VIA site, and downloaded theirs that looks like it. It says It cannot find the proper hardware and has to cancel.

So i google'd and found http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=823x

But when I open, there is no EXE. The readme says:
To install, run the MMPM/2 MINSTALL.EXE program from the directory where
you unpacked this archive.

But thats not in there..

YES. Now that I have the right drivers installed, I plugged into the back audio ports instead of the front, and it worked. Happy day.

Thanks everyone
