Running Windows ME and all is quiet- no sound is coming from the speakers, and the connections are ok- Soundblaster live digital sound card with 1024 voices. Any help would be appreciated😕THANKS!

Make sure you have the volume up in the volume control panel, and make sure one of the output sources is not muted. We will go from there if that doesn't help.

I realized to check that first- unfortunately, it is not that simple- the wires are connected, the volume of the speaker is on, the volume is up in the settings and not muted...any other suggestions? Thanks!

I am not exactly sure what software you have for your soundcard, however if you have what i had, go to start>programs>Creative. In this folder should be a program called creative mixer or something mixer. Not sure of the name. In there you can select your speakers and what have you. You may have no sound system selected in the software. Otherwise check the drivers, try reinstalling them. Did they work before and all the sudden they stopped working?

Actually, it is my daughter's computer at school- it worked before , but I am not sure if it worked right before she switched dorms, because she kept the speakers turned off- her old roomate didn't like it. What is the best way to check and reinstall the drivers if necessary, as you suggested?

This is usually very OVERLOOKED but go to creative's website and choose download driver. (I did the work, here --> http://www.americas.creative.com/support/welcome.asp?RD=download ) Select Sound Card, SB! Live, and the type (Value, Gamer, MP3, etc) Then download the latest drivers that suits your OS (WinME) Install the drivers, reboot, and try again. You may also have to configure the program that controls it (I'm not sure about Creative, I have Game Theatre XP which has a program that controls my sounds)
Good Luck.
