Hi,
I've been using my computer for a while, and didn't move it or anything, but all of a sudden, I get no sound from my Sound Blaster Live! sound card. At first I thought it was my speakers, but I plugged another sound source through my speakers and they worked fine. There's no audio output from my card! I checked the obvious, such as volume, mute, and also in Device Manager to see if the card was having a problem. Nope nothing. Just no sound coming out. I am plugging my speakers into the usual green output plug for 2-speaker analog.
Also, no new installations of any software... this is really weird ...
I also checked to make sure that the card was doing analog out and not digital out...

I was thinking maybe the card itself had problems... anyone have this similar experience? To make sure, it IS the green plug that is audio OUT right? I tried looking it up in my Gateway manual (my computer is a Gateway), but being brilliant as they are, they just say "Plug your speakers into your sound card" ... like .. err.. thanks but which one. =P

Thanks!
Calvin

Couple of things people will ask for:

Operating System
RAM
What SB drivers are you using

I'd say it would not even hurt to throw in what Gateway model with processor, although I know little about the GW line.

Is this a new card or one that was working? If it was new, did you use the SB CD to do the install (unless we're talking about XP here)? Did you update the drivers from the Creative web site? Any Yellow ? in Device Manager?

I just got it fixed! Thanks anyway!

For some reason (must be software bug), even though the card was not on mute, clicking the Mute in Volume Control on and off for about 5 times brought the sound back...

Thanks anyway!
