No sound from right spkr

was watchin a dvd using power dvd..muted the volume to recieve a call.after unmuting thr was no volume. at the max spkr volume i could hear very faint sounds.restarted the pc but now only my left spkr works
uninstalled power dvd->no help
updated drivers to 5.10 off the nvidia site but still the same problem. ran spkr wizard but no help. it detects my system as analog spkr, 2 channel encoding
chked my spkrs on my 700m they work fine...
even formatted/reinstalled xp pro but no help

plz help as this is really frustrating

 
Yank the cable out and push it right back in, making sure it's 100% seated. Try other apps (media player, winamp etc) to confirm loss of channel.

did not work...my spkrs work fine when i tested them on my laptop and on my iriver player
