No Sound from IBM ThinkPad 600 Model 2645

i just installed windows 98 and the sound card was plug and play, but i never got any sound, so i find the newest drivers and still get no sound...i look for a volume control dial but there is none, the volume control is using buttoms by holding FN+ PGUP or PGDW, i keep holding it for louder and i tried to mute and unmute it, i also increased the volume to the max in volume control...i haven't figured a way to get into the bios, so maybe its disabled there, thanks!
