No sound from CD-ROM headphone jack

[Achtung]

Been having this problem since I installed Win XP. I can't get sound out of the headphone jack of either of my CD-ROM drives. It was working just fine under Win 98, but now it's stopped. I get it out of my regular speakers from my sound card just fine, but this doesn't make any sense. Is it a driver problem?

It's probably using digital audio through the IDE cable. Kinda like DAE. There should be a check box in device manager to disable it if I remember right.
