No Sound (AC 97 Audio Controller (Code 10))

I'm having trouble installing the Audio Controller, the make is a VIA 8237.

I've downloaded so many drivers i've lost track. I've done the Add new hardware wizard etc. It's enabled in the Bios. It just won't start. I always get a Code 10. It's a fairly new mobo and cpu. HP with the recover partion. First time booted up fine with the sound. Then I used the recovery partion and it stops working. HElp!
