No signal to monitor

I just build a new computer for a friend of mine and I am haveing a few problems. First off the part:

Asus A8N-SLI
1 gig ram 2 x 512
160 ide hd
ATI x700 pro
Linksys wireless pci
dvd burner
cheap 300 watt power supply 20 pin connector

Everything went together fine. The computer boot and loaded win with no problems. The problems first started to happen when I try to play Doom3 it would play for like 10 min or so then the screen would go blank and I would get the message no signal on the monitor. The game did not lock up or anything as I could still hear my gun fireing when I wantd eit to.

I think it may be the power supply as the connector on the board is 24 pin while the connector from the power supply is 20 pin. According to Asus they reccomend a ATX v2.0 power supply (24pin) but I could not any of these around my area. Any other suggestion?

Thanks
