no signal from DVI-D to vid card..

Hi, I just got the LG monitor L1981Q which has a DVI-D cable (single link). My new video card is EVGA which have DVI-I (dual link). I plug in the cable and i get no signal to monitor; only 15-pin cable works so far. I've been trying to find a DVI-D male to DVI-I male adaptor but it doesnt seem to exist. Doesnt DVI-I support both DVI-I/DVI-D as well? Does anyone have the same monitor that could give me a explanation. I'm thinking of my only choic is to get a DVI-I cable and 'cut' the pins out on one end to connect to the monitor. Any help or suggestion is appreciated. Thank you.
