What the fuck does "awareness" do with anything? Is this some new-age/hipster way of telling yourself you helping something without actually doing anything (think KONY2012)?

It seems this literally is an empty gesture and not shaving for a month.

men are notoriously bad at taking care of themselves, movember helps by making men more aware of the health issues they potentially face and maybe help them go get that damn prostate exam/etc.

normally I don't care much for awareness campaigns, but in this case it serves a purpose. Just like the breast cancer campaigns that remind women to check for lumps.

Same thing that wearing pink in October has to do with charity. Just brings up awareness. Unfortunately, men's health issues tend to take a backseat to women's. According to the CDC, prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer for men by a wide margin. Cancer is the second most common cause of death for men. Movember helps bring awareness to something that was ignored for a long time.

What does raising awareness do? What does "being aware" of any disease accomplish? Maybe awareness causes more people to donate money? idk

I have a weird salt and pepper thing going on...

The hair on my neck is super dark, but as it goes up my jaw and onto my cheeks/lip it turns blonde

Well going to the doc for regular checks can catch prostate cancer in the early stages when its easier to treat.

Plus you get to have someone put their finger up your arse for free.

Win/win :awe:

most of us live in America

Not only is it not free, it costs more to have a doctor put his finger up there than a hooker.

the idea is to make you aware so that you go get tested, as early detection improves survival rates dramatically.

Think for a minute. It's really not that hard to understand. :hmm:

When I hovered over that link I thought it said Decembieber.

Im far happier with hairy muffs than with a month of that little c**t.

Its a shame that you have to pay to get tested but its still cheaper than advanced cancer treatment. And there's that whole higher survival rate thing as well.

Meh...johnny-come-lately's...I stop shaving by the first day of Septembeard...then refuse to shave during Octobeard, Novembeard, Decembeard, Januhairy, and Februhairy. I MIGHT shave it off in Marchyouevergonnashavethatshitoff...maybe.

just have it done along with your yearly physical.

Yes, and that's free with current laws.

And your doctor will be happy to stick his finger up there because even though it's free to you, it's another billable for him!

It all sounds like a good idea, until you hit that scratchy stage at about 7-10 days, then it's time to shave that crap off.
