no serial ports on nforce 2?

OS

Lifer

i was reading a thread with this comment in it, is this true?

I have serial devices I'd like to keep, like my UPS and my 68HC11 development board.

The most unique feature of this board is NVIDIA's decision to get rid of all serial ports on the board and replace the headers with two VGA connectors to enable on-board multimonitor support through the IGP.

This quote is in reference to a reference board from nVidia with MCP-T and IGP.

ugggghhhh. Well thx for the info. I hope there will be a non integrated graphics version with serial ports.

Addon cards for serial and parrallel ports run like $15 retail. Hardly a large cost to maintain legacy support. I'd like to see the floppy connectors, parrallel ports, and serial ports dropped altogether from new designs. The floppy should have been replaced a long time ago by FlashRAM devices. The legacy ports have already been outdone by the introduction of USB hookups.
