Hey I just got Far Cry and installed patch 1.3. I started playing and noticed that there is no saving in the game only checkpoints? Is this right? I thought the game was plagued by checkpoint save system at the start but they added actual saving with the latest patches? Please help !!! I need to save !!! lol

You can bring up the console with the tilde key, then type "save_game". You can load this save game from the menu or from the console with the command "load_game". Be advised that while this works, some quicksaves may not work correctly when loaded. For example, if you save on a catwalk, when you load you might be floating above the surface. More console commands and Far Cry tweaks can be found here:

That's a matter of opinion. I found that there weren't enough and found a way to bind keys to the gamesaves mentioned above. I can't remember now how it worked but it did.

Try having children ages 1 and 3 who constantly want your attention and then tell me that there are enough checkpoints.

No, Crytek is trying to work on it but have not yet been succesful.

Not really, sometimes you gotta go somewhere and your in between checkpoints. Saving would be good since you don't want to lose your current progress, and you don't want to replay that whole part again once you get back. Sure the checkpoints are good enough when having 100 % free time to yourself, but life isent like that.

I agree that some of the check points are stretched out but wow... it really builds tension in my opinion. Some of those night missions with the mutants really had me freaked. :p

Exactly. I have a 16 month old, & if she wakes up from a nap, she needs me now, not 5 minutes later after I get to the next check point.

Off topic, but I just got to the point where I gotta destroy the radar at the start. When I get the sniper rifle in the house and zoom in, the game instantly crashes back to windows. This only happens when I get sniper rifle and try to zoom in, anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Thanks.
