No Samsung PATA hard drives with 8MB cache below 120GB?

I believe the model number is SP0812N, but it's not sold anywhere, so if you want an IDE Samsung hard drive with 8MB cache you need to buy the 120GB version? I won't even use 20GB, I just want a quick quiet drive and there's nothing quieter than a Samsung as I have the 40GB with 2MB cache and it's silent but slow.

Is there a new version coming out? They have an 80GB 8MB Cache SATA drive, but wouldn't that be slower than an IDE equivalent which defeats the whole purpose?

The SATA drive MIGHT be slower then the PATA version but you won't notice the difference. I have the 120 GB/8 MB PATA and love it though :).

Yeah, they just came out. I'm surprised you haven't heard about them yet, supposed to be insanely fast.

Nah for real, PATA = parallel ATA, just another name for the IDE drives that have been on the market for the past who knows how many years.
