Pros: Cheap, small, functional

Cons: Does not support S3 sleep mode! C'mon, this should be standard!
This means that when you are not using your PC, you either have to shut down, hibernate, or listen to your fans run all the time. There's no silent sleep mode.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry, S3 is not a standard feature for all motherboards. Biostar motherboards that are version 7.x or 8.x do not have S3 feature added, these are price competitive products to compete in a very competitive market. If S3 is a must need feature, Biostar products versions 1.x to 6.x will have S3 function.

That's news to me. In fact, pretty much every cheapy modern motherboard that I've used, including ECS, has supported S3 sleep (Suspend to RAM). Well, again, except for a Biostar S775 board.

So I guess Biostar is a mobo company to avoid, if you care about using sleep states with your PC.

You get what you pay for, Larry.

It's been confirmed, there are cheaper Biostar boards without S3 functionality. Deal with it.

biostar, ahh yes, the motherboards you get free with your prebuilt system, but you would never actually buy cause they are so bad.

I built a box around a Biostar motherboard. Didn't last long. Apparently the Bio stands for biodegradable.

They probably figured out how to save $1.25 by leaving out an Uncore or DRAM power phase, MOSFET, or something that is required for proper S3.
