No reset button on Lian Li case - WHY?!!?

I decided to get rid of my Thermaltake Xaser case and move to a Lian Li case model PC-V2100B (black color). I wanted to get a more conservative;) case that didn't have all the bling bling lights, side window, and about six fans. Wow, this case is HUGE and a work of art. I've heard about Lian Li cases being excellent and now I know why. I wanted to get this particular case because of the looks, sound damping design, and room to expand.

What I am curious about is why this case does not have a reset button? Is it because it is a server case? If so, why still no reset button. I must admit, I've not used the reset button on my Thermaltake very often. Please enlighten me:eek:

Reset buttons are for people who make mistakes and LianLi owners don't make mistakes. Now that you're in the club, don't let us down.

 As a member of the club, I have never used the reset button...Yet.

Both mid-towers have them and they are hooked up.

I did read over in GH forum that the BIOS on some MBs will permit the power button to do
double duty. When set for a 4 second delay for power-on, a quick tap will be a reset.
The power button has to be held down for 4 seconds to boot. Then a tap is reset. I would
guess holding it down for 4 seconds would turn the rig off.

Actually power on is instant - to power off requires the 4 sec. hold down - this does not interfere with the normal soft-off function. While system is on, a brief press causes a reset. In my book, that isn't very bright but it does let you get a way with only one switch.

I think Chenbro and InWin make a lot of cases with only one switch too. One would hope that case mfrs with such a long histories of making equipment for the tech-literate wouldn't do such things. We'll have to blame it on the bean counters...

it's not too difficult to add a reset switch to the back somewhere...its a pretty simple switch.

Otherwise, you can live with the 3-4 second hold for a hard reset, I know that my computer works just fine either way, the reset is just faster

I appreciate you guys posting in response to my question. I've not made the move to the Lian Li case as of yet. I will start making the move maybe tonight by making a backup of my hard drives and unhooking the peripherals. It looks like it should be all plug and play after that.

All the best.

I made the move to my new Lian Li case. This was so easy to do because the Lian Li case is HUGE and installing the hard drives and optical drive was pretty much done with a screwdriver and the included socket driver. Now my bedroom is a lot more quieter and dimmer because I don't have all those fans spinning and the bling bling lights a glowin':). I knew that the PSU would be a bit noisy, but that's all good. The two 120mm fans are very quiet and with all the sound insulation the video card fan noise is imperceptible. This case will last me for quite some time - it better for what it cost me:Q.

BTW, I figure if I really needed a reset button, I could go to Radio Shack and get me a switch and mount it on the rear of the case. I don't I really will need one, though:cool:

The Lian Li PC-7BW Plus I got for my wife's computer has a reset button right under the power button, where it belongs. ;)

It would be really hard to take a drill to this expensive case:Q. I will just forgo on the reset button. I hardly used the reset button on my previous case. But if I really wanted to, I could mount a reset button on the back end of the case.

LOL... Really? My philosophy is that if you are afraid to lose it, you shouldn't have it. Cases are meant to be used, for whatever purpose you so desire. If you want a button, put on in. If you think you don't have the skill to do it right, then get a cheap case, and get some practice in. I guess I should show you the holes I have in my case now. Here are all the pics. I've dismantled the hot-swap circuity of the fan bays so that I could change out the fans, I first put three holes for fans, but then decided that I wanted a window, so I have a 11x19" hole in the side panel now. I'm going to put a fan and ducting mod in the other side. If you didn't want to make permanent changes, then grab an extra 5.25" bay cover, and mod it to hold the switch. Very easy mod to do. :)

Fullmetal Chocobo, I'm am far from a case mod expert, but then again, from the :camera:s you posted, neither are you IMHO. :)

LOL. Yeah, I'm still learning. Those fan holes I got done were completely fvcked. But that isn't the point. It's all about "hmm, I'd like to see if I can power some fans with the unused 24-pin connector", and trying it out. I'm still working on my dremel work, but my power cable mods are what I'm proud of! :) And the window mods I'm working on should be a lot better once I'm finally done.

Ouch, what were you going for, the jagged edge look?!!?:D. Just joking. I don't subscribe to your philosophy but to each their own. I think what you mentioned about using a bay cover to mount a reset switch would be the route to go and I appreciate the suggestion. I will be going to Radio Shack tomorrow to get a switch and start butchering, er, I mean drilling my bay cover.
