No Republican candidate outside Romney is electable

Watching these debates it's sickening how disgusting the GOP base truly is. One of the moderators merely mentioned the country Mexico, only to receive LOUD boos from the crowd. Playing to this racist and xenophobic base is simply suicide in a general election.

Alienating Hispanics in a general election IS suicide.

Actually, Dr. Paul is the only one who is electable. The results shown by Fox News (of all outlets) after the debate which just ended were enormously favorable towards Dr. Paul (1st place), Romney was last place. Romney can't win southern Republicans.

Jon Hunstman likely had the best chance of beating Obama in a general election, but he worked with him at one point for the betterment of America and the world and that is more or less a cardinal sin for his party, getting the nomination was impossible. Beyond him Ron Paul is about the only guy the GoP has in the running that isn't a total clown. Romney is a contender are you serious? Nobody likes him. Democrats don't like him that's a given, but not even his own party likes him. People voting for Romney do so because their hate for Romney is slightly less then their hate for Obama.

Ron Paul is not electable. His racist newsletters would destroy his candidacy in a broad election wherein the racists of the Republican Party would be diluted. Plus, he looks and sounds like a goblin. Racist Ron Paul lacks charisma.

GOP is so done this election. They have no chance.

Romney is really their only electable candidate and he's HATED by his own party.

Absolutely, I urge all people that were considering voting Democrat in Nov. that there is really nothing for them to vote on and they may as well stay home and get drunk instead.

Absolutely.... Obama is the prime republican this election year.

\and how much that burns those little 'r's....

We will destroy Romney by splitting the vote. We'll show you how truly electable big gov Neocons really are when you piss off the conservative base.

What is that? "the conservative base?"

\would seem the "conservative base" isn't what it appears to be...
\\\GGG is what they still cling too... and what will erode their influence....

Absolutely. Ron Paul has been able to skate by relatively easily with little media scrutiny, but just imagine if the US as a whole was made aware of his racist newsletters and his anti-civil liberties stances. Everyone but hardcore racists would abandon him.

If you are going to continue to call him Dr. Paul then you need to start calling other candidates by Mr. or whatever title it may be. Like Mr. Romney etc.

Otherwise it just looks like a cult which is really bad if you are trying to persuade anyone.

I heard that he said that he both denounces those statements and admits that he should have denounced them at the time.

A better criticism is his lack of support for the 14th amendment's application of the bill of rights to the states; Something that he should run-from in the general election by suggesting a new amendment that out-right says that the civil-rights protections of the constitution apply to the states.

I do not have a boat in the GOP POTUS nominee race. But how will Mr Romney's Bain job sit with a population that is struggling to recover from the Great Recession? He sounds like one of the people who caused it.

I am beginning to think that if the GOP chooses Mr Paul they are going to see a repeat of the 1964 election. Goldwater would be considered a moderate compared to Mr Paul.

The big question I have is how is the GOP going to win the general election with candidates who are killing themselves and each other to win the approval of a group whose politics represent 20 to 25% of the general population?

All the candidates are doubling down on Reagonomics where the wealthiest pay less taxes and the middle and working classes and the poor pay more. Their proposed budget cuts hurts these groups too. People will not knowingly vote against their pocket books. They wil vote to hurt other people but after 30 years of Reagonomics it is obvious who has benefitted and who has not.

The GOP have attacked and demonized large segments of the voting population: Spanish speaking people, the unemployed, teachers and government workers, Muslims, Afro-Americans, the poor, women, unions, etc. Yes these groups will vote no matter how hard the GOP tries to suppress their vote.

The GOP has to be praying that the economy crashes hard this year!

Yeah, he said that years ago, and that he considers MLK and Rosa Parks to be heroes, and he voted for MLK day back in the '70s. But he is a threat to our war profiteering establishment, so our establishment media attacks him with however they can, and our population keeps Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of The War Drums.

Wow. South Carolina Senator Tom Davis placed his reputation on the line and just endorsed Ron Paul. This is a major story and should have made the news, but it did not. Though guess who just became much more electable? 🙂

Huntsman is electable. The fact that he didn't pander to the crazies meant he didn't have a chance in the GOP primary though.

What if instead of voting for presidential candidates we elected locally trusted/educated people who would then meet and vote on who should be president... a sort of electoral college if you will.

I'm loving it actually. 😉

romney is a horrible flip flopper and will probably do nothing to fix your current jobs and housing crisi. he would probably make them worse and encourage them. you want to wake up homeless on the streets of the country your forefathers went to war over to keep free?:'(
you would be going against everything your country stands for by electing romney.
