No Rear Sound Output In HL: Source Games

I have an ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe, I'm using the analog output from the onboard sound (5.1 to a set of Logitech Z-5300e's) When playing games based on the HL: Source engine, I don't get rear sound, and the sound to the front left and right channels seems very quiet. (Day of Defeat: Source, Halflife 2, etc...) The game options are set to output 5.1, sound quality is set to High. Is this a common problem that I am unaware of? Driver problem? I am probably going to download new sound drivers, if I can find them, does anyone have any other ideas as to what this could be?

Thanks.

P.S. The surround sound works fine in other games so enabled, America's Army for example, so it's not the speakers or something like that.

It was a driver problem, in case anyone else has this problem... there is a new driver on the ASUS website that fixes the problem. It is incorrectly labeled as a driver for Windows 64 bit, but it is actually for standard XP.
