I just took a bunch load of parts from attic + closet and through together a:
K6-2 450
128mb PC150
16mb Vanta AGP
MuseXL

And the klipsch 4.1s from my other computer, which is being traded on anandtech right now.

I have installed the drivers, and cannot get anything but 2.1, I have everything set on 4, 4.1, quadrophonic, whatever, i've tried every possible setting and i can still get no sound.

Green connector is in front out, black is in rear out.

anyone?

What driver version are you using? You can try the latest reference C-media 8738 driver from the Windows Update Catalog site. Latest is 6.43 I think. These are the WDM drivers for Windows 98SE, Me, Win2K and XP only. Also make sure "Virtual 5.1 with reverberation" is enabled (applies to WDM drivers only).

Cheers

The Muse XL soundcard is powered by a C-Media 8738 chip, it's the same premis as using reference nvidia drivers and specific drivers to card manufacturers. Sounds like that extra option is only in the reference drivers that can be downloaded from windows update or direct from C-Media.
