Not sure what my mother board is, and my computer skills are terrible so talk simple please LOL

Windows 7 64bit its an Alienware machine

but i have no sound from my rear audio, if i plug something into the rear jacks its promps me and says something is pluged in, to it know that much. but after days of playing with crap i have noticed this. when i plug my head phones into the front out jack it does not prompt me. AND when i unplug the phones, the icon in my realtek hd manager for front audio STAYS light up as if the device were still pluged into it........
so... does this mean my jack is fudged? and can i dissable the front?
this might give audio to rear.

Not sure I have a P5N32-SLI-SE-Deluxe board that the audio works with the MB Header (top of my case), but doesn't work with the back. The person who sold me the board said it works with Win7, but it's not verified at asus. I'm assuming you upgraded to Win7. Find out what board you have using cpu id.

Just to add, some motherboards disable the rear jacks when the case/front jacks are used. No idea if you could try not using the front, reboot, then checking the rear again.

No fix that I know of as I suspect it is a "feature".
