I feel so cheated, Texas is one of those states that will carry Bush no matter what, & neither party is buying airtime for commercials in Texas:(

That's why. An ad featuring a video of Bush beating Max Cleland with his own wheelchair wouldn't sway any people there.

Hell, many of them still think he was born and raised in Texas.

Bush could probably be shown going on a drunken rampage (with gunfire and mass carnage) and they'd still vote for him.

Wasn't that the crux of his Iraq policy ?

The photo ops of Bush at his ranch in jeans, cowboy boots and hat are very amusing. He looks so much like a tinhorn cowboy I'm surprised most real Texas cowboys aren't disgusted.

Talk about re-inventing yourself....

Nice, I guess Texas has been written off as worthless. That is a damn shame. The people of Texas are still people and deserve to be given a chance to advance in their current thinking. No people should be left in such a state of near total ignorance. Knowledge and intelligent forms of thinking are caught from ones environment just as well as stupidity and ignorance. People act according to what they see. This is why the don't now eat people in New Guinea.

Moonbeam - Texas is about personal wealth and the rejection of any type of wealth redistribution. I'd venture that 80% of the people live between Dallas and Houston and San Antonio and Austin. Dallas, Houston are for the most part immensely wealthy metroplexes and people are not inclined to support any social programs to render the inequity. They're conservative, mainly for this reason.

you must not have heard of shelia jackson-lee.

the biggest reason texas has been written off by democrats is because the texas democratic party does not exist. they never cohered as a party due to the solid south. the republicans party, now being a cohesive unit, currently dominates state politics not because there aren't lots of democrats here, but because the democrats are running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Well, that's Dubya doing what he does best. I mean, he has to be the "war president" because he truly shines when he's squinting at the camera, smirking inappropriately and swaggering like he's channeling Clint Eastwood. It's a good act, but in reality, Dubya's all hat and no cattle.

Yep that about sums things up. Its truly sad. Texas politics are a mess and they aren't going to get any better soon.
But then again, not seeing Dubyas smirking face on TV is a good thing also.
