My work computer's motherboard is an ASUS A7N8X (which is NForce2). I'm trying to test our game using various video cards. If I put older graphics cards in (by older I even mean GForce2/3), then it won't boot up. I say won't boot up - I actually mean won't power up. The power light comes on, but nothing happens. The PSU doesn't even turn on. Then when I put my GF4 back in, it all works fine and dandy. The graphics cards that are causing problems on my machine, work fine on any other machine that I've tried them on (although we don't have the exact same motherboard to try it on).

Any ideas what could cause this?

Cheers for any help,
Dan.

Check out this article. Seems these nf2 mobo's only accept agp 4x & 8x gfx cards. As explained above there are voltage, signaling and slot differences between the agp variations.

I've had cards that won't work in my nf2 mobo's.
