no power to usb ports

I just purchased an Intel D865PERLL motherboard to use in a new build (my first attempt failed due to a bad mobo) and installed everything without a problem. When I turned the computer on it powered up and loaded Windows (installed on previous build attempt), but my usb mouse did not work. I plugged it into my front usb ports and the ones directly on the board but it still did not work. I tried another USB mouse and that also did not work.

It seems as if my USB ports have no power. Is this a problem on the board or did I set up something wrong? I'm pretty new at this, so I'd appreciate even the most basic of suggestions.

Thanks!

GregANDTCH, are you sure Kerers should disable the onboard USB ports?
Kerers, did you check that the power cable for the USB port was plugged in? Keep in mind that there are 4 cables for each port that need to be plugged into the motherboard.

GregANDTCH is implying that if the ports are currently disabled in the BIOS, that would explain the symptoms, and the duu-uh solution is to enable them again ;)

Kerers, I suggest trying that, and also refer to your motherboard's owners' manual. I know the manual can be a little boring (the plotline stinks, and I can never figure out who the villain is, either :p), but it does have tons of useful info for figuring out this type of thing :)

Also, you might want to uninstall your usb controllers and hubs and then restart your pc to allow windows to find them again. But do that only after you've done what the others suggested.
