No power to my Epox 8kha+ ?

Hey smart people,

I just got a shiny new Epox 8kha+ with an AMD XP1800 and a gig of pc2100. It is a replacement for my old Asus/P3 combo and I put it in the same case with 250w power supply.

The problem is, the motherboard seems to get no power. I plug it all in, double check all two jumpers and all the cable mounts are good. Power on, not a peep. Not even the power supply fan comes on. Nothing.

So I think, damn I must have nuked my powersupply doing the switch. Nope, I put the old MB back in and it runs like clockwork. P3 933mhz with 2 gigs of ram running no problem.

Epox goes back in, maybe I missed something? Nope, not a response.

I am told by the dealer (united micro) that it could be the power supply just is not up to AMD XP spec, but would that really result in this kind of failure?

Thanks for any feedback, and have a happy halloween!

WOw thanks for the fast reply!

Yeah, I think it is generic. It came with the case. I won't know til I get home from work.

I guess I should pick up a power supply on the way home just to test it out. Frys has a 400w dual fan powersupply that is AMD certified for $59. No brand name. Is this a safe proposition in your opinion?

Thanks again, big time.

I just ordered the same Epox and an Athlon XP 1600. Partnered with a Geforce3 will my 300w ps be sufficient? Or do I really need a 400w ps?
