No POST with XEON 3110 and GA-P35-DS3L

I've tried recommended RAM, non-recommended RAM. The mobo works cuz the fan still runs and the mobo gets pissed and beeps when no RAM is inserted. I get nothing on-screen, and with the RAM in, I don't get any sounds whatsoever from the Mobo (like the obligatory beep when it goes from POST screen to Windows loading screen).

I know the Xeon proc is supported by the board because its listed on Gigabyte's website as supported, after the F7 BIOS flash it says, but shoot, I cant even get the damn thing to POST, much less be able to flash it.

I would still think it would recognize some type of 775-socket chip, but nothing. I'm out of guesses as to what's wrong. Any ideas?

P.S. I've checked every other potential problem (PSU connections, videocard connections, etc)

System:
Xeon 3110
GA-P35-DS3L
510W PSU (alienware-brand)
2 GB Corsair Dominator PC-8500
BFG G92 8800 GTS OC

the F7 bios, i believe, is the one that supports the new 1333 FSB chips. Newbie, you make a valid point, I think the only thing I can do is buy a cheap celeron and boot it up and flash the BIOS, then put back in the new Xeon...I wish I didn't have to invest all that extra time and extra (little) money, but I think you're right

In the BIOS download page, it says Wolfdale support is added for the F8a BIOS, and Yorkfield support in F8b...

I'd try flashing it.

The real question is which bios does HE really have. If his rev doesn't support it, it would explain the no post problem. Borrow a friends chip, you have to know someone with a s775 chip. Or just get one from fry's and tell them you can't get to run when you rma it...LOL. Yeah I know, my morals suck. When you do it though, make sure you tell them you tested it in a friends board (fine), but just cant get it to run in yours. Makes your "problem" more believable...LOL. I'm so bad. But he said he's broke 🙂 Cut me some friggin morality slack.

There definitely are boards on the shelf with old bios versions incapable of booting these. Why they aren't smart enough to just mini-boot so you can at least flash and move on is beyond me. But I'm seeing it here and there so they must really be dumber than I thought these days. This would happen years ago, but today? pfft...
