I got a new mobo (ASUS A8V-DX no wifi K8T890 DDR GBLAN ) and a AMD Athlon 64 ( 939 ) 3000+. both retail and came pretested from monarchcomputer.com

so, i set it all up, and i get no post at all. no video out to the monitor. no beeps. the monitor light comes on for 2 secs when pc is turned on and then goes back to yellow (idle). i unplugged almost everything (even HDs) and nothing. all the other components are working, as i just reverted to my earlier setup.

the HDD is from my earlier setup and was NOT reformated. it had/has xp pro on it.

does this mean RMA time?

ty!

Full detailed system specs including brand & model of power supply would help with the insights here.

Do the psu and cpu fans stay on?

I always fire up a new mb on the bench and set up the bios while I'm at it. If there is a problem later, I know it is an installation problem, not hardware. Narrows the troubleshooting down a lot.

I remember having this same problem with this mobo.

I ended up figuring out that I had my RAM in the wrong slot, this due to ASUS's excellent English translation:disgust:

If you have 2 sticks in, just try one in the other slots till you get a beep. Even after this problem, I ended up having more problems and RMAing the board for my Neo2.
