I just put together a new system today and am having some problems.. first of all, this is whats running in the system..

p5n-e sli
C2D e6600
dvdrw
160gb hdd
2gb crucial ddr2800
evga 8800gts 640mb

When I initially put the system together, I was missing the video card, so upon booting the system
I received some beep codes which were expected so I thought all was well.. Well, I installed the 8800 this morning and ran into some problems.. The first boot was fine, the system posted and I entered the bios.. I changed the boot order to boot to CD and disabled the floppy since I don't have one.. After saving the changes and exiting, the system just sat there, didn't restart itself and seemed to be stuck in power save mode, because there wasn't a signal being sent out to the display.. I manually shut down and turned the system back on and this is where im stuck.. Now, evertime I turn on the system it takes about 10 seconds before it spits out a beep code. The code is 1 long and 3 short beeps, followed by 4 short beeps... I have reset cmos, removed the battery and such multiple times with no luck.. I did get lucky once after leaving the system off for about 10-15 minutes, it booted again so I entered bios and changed the same settings, save and exit and the exact same thing happened.. Now I'm stuck and have not been able to get into bios again.. I've tried one stick of ram in both the black and yellow slots, but same results.. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks..

Not sure on the beep codes right off but I have a few other ideas for you.

Turn off your Computer and also turn off the PSU (switch on back). Leave it off a couple of minutes, then turn the PSU back on and try to
boot the Computer.

If you get to the BIOS screen get into it and look at Video Card settings. On mine (ASUS) there are a couple of choices - Auto, PCI, and PCI-EX.
Manually set it to PCI-EX, otherwise it will sometimes try to output to PCI and it won't work.

Make sure all the power connectors are plugged into your Video card.

May also want to try booting with just one stick of RAM, and switch the other if that doesn't work (assuming you have paired RAM).

Again, not sure exactly on your beep codes, but since you kinda had it up these options may help.

Thanks for the help! I just tried putting one stick of ram in each slot and tried my friends g.skill ram in each slot with no results.. I did manage to get into bios again after waiting 20 minutes and changed the mem timings and the video card to PCIe. saved and exited bios and got the same exact problem, no post and the 1 long 3 short code.. called Asus and the tech said that beep code was video failure, but since I tried a brand new 8800gts and an 8600gts with both failing they recommended RMAing the board since it looked like a bad PCI slot.. So I'm off to fedex to RMA it.. This is my first Asus board and my first problematic mobo so I'm a bit disappointed but hopefully an RMA will do the trick.. Thanks again!
