My friend has a Dell Dimension 4700: Pentium 4 3.0Ghz, 512MB DDR, intel integrated graphics.

According to his story he was playing a game when the computer displayed a BSOD then he restarted it and it displayed the BSOD again, next time he started it didnt get to windows at all. It displays the multicolor Intel name and some SVGA bios information, it doesnt do anything other than this.

I have reseated ram, disconnected and reconnected every cable, and cleared the CMOS but nothing changes. There are no beeps and the only LED error code that shows up is

A B C D
G G G Y

Where D is yellow and the others are green. On the dell site this means "another error". It always goes to that one screen with the SVGA bios instantly and nothing else, no keyboard input or anything.

Help would be appreciated.

EDIT: With an add-in graphics card it gets just a blinking underscore _ , and the hard drive does work.

You can't get to the BIOS at all then? Did you try resetting the clear CMOS jumper?

Nothing at all comes up just the video bios, when using a 6600gt, all I get is a blinking cursor, nothing happens. The dell logo does not come up, no boot menu at all. I have cleared the cmos and removed the battery for like 30 minutes, nothing at all.

I have noticed that HD light stays on even if the HD is not connected. Technically everything works but it does not POST or go beyond a blinking cursor.

First, did you follow the motherboard/Dell's instructions EXACTLY, when clearing the CMOS ?

If you did this procedure correctly, it sounds like to me that you may have a corrupted/bad CMOS chip and you need to send it to DELL for reflashing or replacing.

Good luck.
