Hi All,

I'm stumped by this very annoying problem. Every time I shutdown and then power back on, my mobo won't post and I have to reset my bios and redo all the settings. This does not happen when I restart though, only after complete power down. Anyone know whats causing this? Parts are below. Bios is up to date (vs.1801) and I'm pretty sure all my drivers are too.

Asus m5a78l-mUSB3
AMD Fx 9590
2x PNY XLR8 240gb RAID0
EVGA 750 ti

Thank you,
Will

You didn't list the PSU and if your using a back up power supply, can you sap out the motherboard battery or use a multimeter to check the voltage?

When you say " wont post ", do you mean " nothing happens when you press the power button ", or that you get a display that stops at some point?

Replace the CMOS battery?

Sounds like . . . could be . . .

Geesh. Ah been buildin' computers since 1982. Didn't focus on sleep-state considerations until nearly 2009.

Only in the last few months did I get a better education about this from an old electronics guru.

Even the best PSU (and I use Seasonics) will have a shorter life if you use sleep without hibernate: it really puts a strain on the PSU. The components slowly cook themselves to death with no fan running, even though a sleeping PC's PSU feels cool.

But the OP's problem sounds more like a 2032 wafer battery needs replacement.
