I just installed Wix XP Home on a SATA drive. This is now my bootup HD. My old IDE drive (with Win XP) is still hooked up. In Explorer, when I try to access a folder (under Documents and Settings) from the old drive, it gives me an error that says I am not authorized to access the folder. I right-clicked the folder and set the permissions up for sharing on the network, etc. I even tried to copy the folder to the shared folder, but it won't let me copy. I noticed that in Explorer, the IDE drive has a hand icon under it's listing in the left pane. What does that hand represent? I'm using a user account with admin privileges, but I don't know why it won't allow me to the view the folders on the old IDE drive. Should I try logging in as Administrator? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If I understand you right the old windows hard drive is on the same system. If thats the case and your logged on as a administrator you can goto the folder you can accress and right click on it and choose properties from the menu. That will open a window with some tabs on it. Click on the security tab and click the advanced button. That opens the advanced settings. From there click the owner tab. In that window you will seee a list of people who can take ownership of that folder so choose your name as owner and click the replace owners of subfolders and objects so you get access to all the sub foldersand files. GL I hope this helps.
