NO Option to Blank Screen!

BadThad

I just discovered my son's win98 PC doesn't have the screen saver option to "blank screen". How the hell do I add it in?

[edit] - Never mind, duh. I just need to copy "blank screen.scr" to his PC. I still wonder why it's not on his PC by default tho.[/edit]

You can install it from the control panel, just go to Add/Remove Programs, then the Windows Setup tab, then you can select Open GL, Flying Windows, and Other. It's under "Other". You may not have had it if you did a minimal install, or a custom install and missed it.

That's because the blank screen is not included in a default Winblows load. I always try to remember to select the 'other screen savers' tab, and deselect the Open GL 3d screen savers.
Got to get those CPU cycles where you can!!

In Win98, just go to the power tab at the bottom of the screen saver page, and select to shut the monitor off after a set time of non use.

it's for seti@home. if the monitor shuts off, the program doesn't notice, so it's as if it's still drawing the cpu-intensive graphics. the blank screen is program-specific, so the graphics aren't displayed at all and the time to complete the work unit drops in half.

oh....man, danzig! You gotta Tetsuo says bro. Your video card is still running if that's all you do. Blank screen means just that, NO DISPLAY, NO cpu cycles to drive vid card.

LMAO....rookies, hehehehehe. 😀 ...just kidding now...😀

Do you enjoy watching the graphics? Otherwise I highly recommend using the command-line interface version.
