No option for adaptive voltage in bios??

I have the ASROCK z170 k6 motherboard and in the bios I only have options for:

Fixed
Auto
Offset.

So my voltage is constantly @ 1.25v instead of fluctuating when my CPU isnt being used... I don't like this but I see no way of changing it? My Z97X Killer from ASROCK had an adaptive option. I googled it to no avail.

Clifford64 has an answer here..

"I set the vcore to offset and had it at a stable voltage that worked before and then I enabled the C states to conserve more power"

"After testing, I have stable overclock at 4.5ghz and it has steady voltages about 1.260 under gaming loads with a couple spikes up to 1.280 and 1.296. And then idles down to below .8v during idle"

He doesnt say what he set the offset too? I can go -500mv or +500mv

+500 (or more) if overclocking, and enable C states..

So I added "500mv" like you said and it put my voltage @ 1.4v+ and my temps shot to around 95c and throttled, please don't recommend things you are unsure or don't know about you could have harmed my CPU if I was a less educated person.

Anyone else know of anyway to make this adaptive with the ASROCK z170 k6? running 1.264v constant doesnt seem like a great idea.

Throttling is not harmful and your CPU was not in any danger.

Was it thermal throttling or tdp throttling?

Did you enable the C states?

What is Windows set on as far as power?

I didn't say throttling itself and what I did put my PC in danger I was just saying that if I didn't know what I was doing and I followed his advice that my voltage being over 1.4v and my temperatures being over 100c for prolonged periods would cause harm to my CPU and that people shouldn't guess at something and act like they know what they are doing. Stuff like that could harm someones PC in the future. I'm not trying to be an ass I appreciate the help, I would just prefer educated information or a knowledgeable guess, I could sit here and type random stuff into BIOS on my own but I'd prefer not to risk ruining my PC.

It was thermal throttling.

C states are enabled and windows is set to performance minimum CPU usage % is set to 0.

I don't get why this motherboard doesnt have the option my cheaper Z97 ASROCK board had an adaptive option :-/

Return the Win power setting to defaults, and set Windows to balanced, and see what happens?

Pretty much. If you are running a chip the board supports, have the status enabled, and aren't running any selections that would prevent standard settings (for example, that Fixed option from your first post would probably do it), even the most basic boards adjust the voltage to CPU usage.

What CPU are you running?

You were the one that told me what your choices were.. I was taking it that was your only choice, and if overclock you always choose + voltage. 1.4 volts isn't hurting anything.

No you were the one who posted the link and offered the advice and then when I asked what I should do the MV you said add 500mv. Don't put this on me lol and 1.4v isnt hurting anything but it could have if i didnt know what i was doing.

I'm running a 6600K I have all the options enabled for c states etc. and my power option is at max performance. I setup this Oc the same way I did on my old asrock motherboard except I had Adaptive on, I don't really get it... Like why would a almost $200 board meant for overclocking not have that option?

The Performance mode, by default, will leave you cpu at 3.5 GHz. If you don't want it to run full speed all the time (which requires full voltage as well), select a different power profile. Windows chooses Balanced by default, which sounds like what you want.
