yep, i'm glad i'll be dead. barring a miracle towards the end of my lifetime, i expect the world to head in a mad max direction.

Same here, but I'm worried for my kids and any family they might have. I expect the same. "We" couldn't even come together even a little bit over a relatively minor (compared to what is likely coming) issue like Covid. People lost their minds and predictably embraced conspiracy lunacy.

Best hope for humanity is that AI continues to develop and we just turn things over to it/them...and turn into the cart-riding humans from Wall-E who just enjoy virtual life. In the movie, it's a dystopia, but frankly it's better than anything we are likely to have going on.

Trends aren't good, that's for sure. We apes keep making better sticks but we are still tribal selfish emotional animals.
