No one can confirm my identity!

After having been a refugee for 14 years(time flies) I finally received my US citizenship last year. You receive a certificate of naturalization that you then have to take to the social security services to update your citizenship status. I did this, and that very same visit my social security card was taken away. They told me they'd mail me a new one in the mail. I received a new one in the mail, with the exact same number.

I now can't even see whether I'm eligible for financial aid or not since they cannot process my claim due to my citizenship status being unverifiable; usually meaning you filled it out wrong. I, of course, put that I have citizenship. Furthermore, as I tried to sign up with Cingular I gave them my SSN, they were unable to verify me.

I've been to the social security services branch in my area about a dozen times now, and they assured me that my information was up to date. My fafsa cannot be processes, corporations cannot verify who I am, my online stock broker was unable to verify me. I simply don't know what to do anymore...

I have no experience with this particular problem, although I have dealt with one particularly stupid social security employee, but you might try appealing to your congressman or senator. Link. I've heard stories about them aiding with problems like this.

It must be a horrible situation and I wish you luck in getting it straightened out.

just post your SSN and a few bank account numbers here and i'm sure that one of us will be able to confirm your identity. 😛
