.....I bought a copy of the book "Cubicle Warfare" and put it in my cube. HAHA... So awesome, I know they peek in it because its in a different place when I come to work. And they don't involve me in their bash management discussions anymore.

To watch the dot com I work for go from 200 employees in 97 to 10,000 in 2000 and now back to 4,500 has been a wild ride, Its been pure comedy watching the "big" corporate boys come on board and wreck the whole work environment. We have officially survived the " evaluation of efficiency" period. Its funny to see this place is stiff as can be, with backstabbing and CYA every where you look. hehe, no more food fights in the caffetaria, no more paper airplane throwing contests, no more pizza with management on fridays, no more free laptops if your home pc busts, no more inviting 5 of your friends up to your cube, no more bringing your kids to work on weekends, no more shorts and berkenstocks (thank god).......

btw, this is the book..... Cubicle Warfare

May have to get me a copy of that.

Have you actually read it? How about a Cliff's notes version? A few tips?

Is it pretty dated? Published in '97, just missed the .com boom by a few years. Perhaps an updated version could apply better.

Yeah, I've found another way to get everyone to leave you alone.

Some how work into a conversation that you're an NRA Life Member and own enough guns to start a small army. After a few moments of uncomfortable silence, they turn to each other and say things like "Well, I gotta lot of work to get done." Works every time.

You have to get it, all I can say. If you live in a cube farm, where big business has infiltrated the company, its a must.

It was written in 1997, if there is an updated version, I need to find it!!!!

I also put a big @ss book next to my monitor, "The Complete Machiavelli" , no one has bothered me with their complaining and whining since, and have not asked me to be a part of their backstabbing plans vs. management. I have seperated myself from the politics game in the office, it's grown 30 year old men and women acting like 7th graders now.

Haha, I have worked with a guy here for over 5 years and he has the NRA member signs pasted all over his cube. He has like big gun catalogs in his cube, he had a huge run in with the top manager in our dept., they put him on admin leave and everything, but now hes back and has a cube by himself on the otherside of the building where everyone works a different shift than him. hehe, this is in a time when you look at management wrong here and they are cleaning your cube out...........

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it. I prefer the professional work place. I was trying to make the point that, everyone is playing the politics game @ work, and I have found a way to avoid being approached and included in the mindless uprising vs. management for cracking down. This book may be tougne-in-cheek, or it can be passed off as comedy if needed, but it can also put the fear of retribution into your coworkers minds should they fvck with ya.
