No NVRAM problem...BIOS-related??

Got a strange problem that seems to relate to BIOS..?!
(Have a MSI K7 Pro(MSI-6195) motherboard, Athlon600, GeF256 SDR)

My computer won't boot if I don't "jumper-reset" BIOS before I turn the power on.
When I've done that I constantly get a
"Checking NVRAM..No NVRAM" (beep)
"Bad CMOS Checksum"
error message.

(and if I DON'T do the reset-procedure it won't boot at all...so any changes to the setup is out of the question, 'cause it won't re-boot again without reseting jumper-wise)

If I choose to press [F2]"Load default values and proceed" when I get the errormessage it all works as before...

Anyone knows what the heck it's all about and how I can fix it?
What/where is the NVRAM I obviously miss???
I have a fully functional battery on the motherboard and have tried to re-flash my BIOS, but it won't work.

Suggestions anyone, please?
(PRETTY annoying to have to always reset BIOS before booting)

I get the a similar error message on my Intel performance/AU board (Aka Aurora, 450KX based) and have to press "esc" to continue booting then everything works right. But this one stores the CMOS data w/o a problem.

The error reads something like:
NVRAM data error, NVRAM cleared.
NVRAM checksum error. NVRAM cleared.

From what I've found it has something to do with the ACPI data. And the manual basically says it's a PCI error message (real specific there isn't it?)

Might be a bad BIOS chip.

Thanx!

"Nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM) is a special kind of RAM that retains data when the computer is turned off or there is a power failure. Like the computer's read-only memory (ROM), it is powered by a battery within the computer. It can also work by writing its contents to and restoring them from an EEPROM."

Well, it seems I've got no NVRAM, so perhaps you're right - I have a bad BIOS chip. But WHY can I boot when I've reset BIOS but when not, nothing happens...? Informative error messages or good manuals are rare...

Any suggestions what I should/could do??
