No network access after updates..

Installed microsoft's XP updates, and now I have no access to the 'net.

ping:
127.0.0.1 works
192.168.1.1 works
google.com fails
8.8.8.8 fails
72.14.204.99 fails
(destination host unreachable.)

I re-installed NIC drivers.
I set my DNS to 8.8.8.8, still didn't help.

What the heck?

You using DHCP or static IP?
Try DNS of 192.168.1.1 and 4.2.2.1.
You can also try from a command line ipconfig -flushdns
