hey guys a quick question with the set-up specs I got here you think I could use the enermax instead of the 400 W one..I already own the enermax it's from an old comp

thanks

yup it has the p4 connector and yes it's for this comp i got listed, but will it run fine, cause I keep reading about all these different opinions people have on the subject on the amount of power a comp needs..some sayin you need alot of power for the athlon's all that stuff, so it should work ok?

k well here is what i saw on the side of the enermax

Enermax Switching Power Supply.

Model: Whisper EG301P-VE

Dc (1) +3.3V +5V +12V -5V -12V +5Vsb +3.3&5V Total Power
Output (2) 28A 30A 15A 1A 1A 2.2A 170W 300W

um ok i tried lineing them up it ain't workin anyway the first line (1) and the second (2) should be right under

and on the box it says meets p4 requirements and amd k7

revision: the other power supply is 450W i now saw it

Wattage isn't as much a factor as efficency and amperage on the 12V wire. Noise / cooling is also big importantce befause the moor cooling the less low efficiency will hurt you. So a more efficient PSU can be run quieter without hurting performance. Wattage only limits the theoretical top end power. In reality most PSUs (especially generic ones) never reach anywhere near that.

Dood, do a little spread sheet and total it up. Volts * Amps = Watts

For a workstation PC that doesn't have water cooling, multipe HD or Optical Drives then 300W should be fine.

You should be fine. I'm running my system on a 350watt Antec (all brand names have some balls) and I have a 9800 Pro, and extra 512MB stick, and another optical drive. Go for it, I never trust generic PSU's anyway.

ok so I got it in and the asus probe is sayin for the 12 V section it's sayin 11.712 I guess i'm being a bit paranoid but I want to be on the safe side is this about right?

thanks

and seriously compared to the last one with fluctuations in the line this is stayin right on and I'm seeing a 2 degree temp drop...niceee

That enermax will roxor the generic one. MSI recommends 25 amps on the 12V for the 754 neo plat. I don't know how true it is but even if it's the case your in the clear (doubt power needs between different brands is significant.
