I don't know how to surf, I've never caught a single waver on a surfboard. I used to body board though, but that's way different.
 
It's a dolphin. They "surf" too, in their own, slightly submerged way. It's actually really cool to watch, especially when you're out in the water with them.

If you look closely at the nose, you could tell its a dolphin. You see actually lot in the winter time in S. Cali beaches at Newport and Huntington Beach.

Use to be avid sponger.
