No more undervolting on cheaper boards?

MSI:
This is the latest bios spec for avoiding incorrect CPU voltage setting may cause CPU broken. Sorry for any inconvenience caused you!
Another board (MSI Z77A-G43), another bunch of limitations.

My $40 MSI 770-C45 board had 3x richer BIOS. Now, my PS/2 keyboard always boots with numlock on (no bios setting to disable that either). Crap. You know what they say?

Dear sir/madam Thanks for contacting MSI technical support. Regarding your concern,we have double checked it and the MB should not support the function refer to the latest bios spec. Thanks for your cooperation in advance! Best Regards, MSI Technical Support Team

Thought my GA-Z77M-D3H was a one-off, this is clearly a trend now :/

Yes, this is definitely a bad trend, that mobo mfgs are crippling parts of the BIOS, for no good reason. There's a reason why we purchase aftermarket motherboards, and build rigs ourselves, and not just purchase an OEM system.

One board won't let you undervolt anymore. Another board now always boots with numlock on.

I see a trend here too, but it's not the one you see...

You sure it dosent undervolt? I got the H77 D3H which is similar and it can undervolt.

Absolutely, I was *shocked* to see the second Z77 board in a row (that I have built) to pass on this feature. If this is Intel's premium chipset, undervolting/overvolting should be a must on every board.

It's called "dumbing down".

And the responses that I have got from a respectable computer manufacturer, prove it.

Wow that's unfortunate. I'm guessing if you don't update the BIOS you can still change the volts?

I feel bad because my brother just built a desktop with a 3570k and this board...hope it doesn't screw him.

Of course, both of these issues are no big deal for manufacturers, since again how many people undervolt and/or running PS/2 keyboard?

But yeah, it's a bit frustrating, looks like I should have shelled out more $ for a GD model.
