fuel management issues. It ran perfectly, but got like 17mpg. premium gets frigging expensive.

it was a b!tch to maintain. There was always *something* on it's way out, getting ready to break, etc.

emissions was the main issue.

Why didn't you just get some beater or something? Maybe sell the car? Anyway, I don't see how anyone with a conscience can do such an engine swap and not run a cat.. unless it was just a weekend car. You may be depressed with 17mpg, but consider the additional harmful emissions. I mean you can smell it.

I had a cat.

In GA car's that were bought with obd II have to keep obd II. According to Z1 that isn't (easily) possible. Blue book on the car is like $3700 or so. Hard to justify doing what was neccessary ($2000 worth of work) to stay legal. There was an emissions shop with a guy here who would "make sure I passed" but in the long run it really isn't worth the time+money involved.

I was thinking about doing a engine/tranny swap on my '95 Sentra, but it was of a perfectly good engine (although a weak GA16) and $$$.

My sentra :(

17mpg? you poor thing.

When City driving I get that in my modded Maxima. Premium too.

whats the highest pump octane out there in GA?

here in cali its 91 octane and last night i paid $2.13 a gallon for it...since the SR20det prefers 93 octane or higher i have to mix in race 100 octane with 91 to get a decent octane mix.....lets see 4 x $5.50 gallons of race gas = $22.00
then 8 x $2.13 gallons of 91 = 17.00 so my full tank is almost $40 for a 12 gallon tank

There is a racetrack (name of gas station) that has 93. $1.94 a gallon.

Gas wasn't the only problem. There was ALWAYS something fsking up that needed fixed or tweaked. When I was 17 and 18 it was no big deal with free time up the wazoo. For the past year It's been one huge PITA having to find time to work on it. Someone else would appreciate it more.

I ended up with an sr20 with 3k miles on it. There's absolutely nothing I can complain about.

Nice grill. You need to lower it, and if it's lowered, then lower it more.

'93 here is just under $2/gallon. It costs me about $25 to fill it up about every 1.5 weeks.

Those pics are from the accident you had a while ago right? Yeah, having a swap can definitely be a pain. Luckily I don't have to get mine smogged until next year so that gives me plenty of time to legalize it (I hope). How much was the shop charging you for the swap if you only got $350 out of the deal? I wonder if you just got a bad engine. So far mine has been trouble free for almost 10k miles. In fact, it stopped burning oil recently and I get EPA numbers as far as mileage (using a USDM computer). I guess everyone can't be so lucky.

And gregshin, you'd better be putting a turbo on that SC300;)
