Say guys....which AMD Socket A CPU is green?? I just saw a picture of one and it was green. The image didn't say which one it was. The Duron AND the XP I have are light brown, and the Athlon NON XP was sort of an off-black. Are the XP's supposed to be green? I ask because I think I may have a 'relabeled' XP.
Thanks.

Sorry I'm not familiar with AMD CPU's......is that an XP? I know there are XP "T-bred" CPU's. What I'm trying to find out is if any XP (1700+) CPU's are that light brown color, the same as a Duron. Abit support seems to think this XP 1700+ is 'relabeled' since it shows "unknown CPU type" @POST. So, I'm trying to find out if I got a knock-off CPU.

some are green some are brownish

im pretty sure there is no classification like xpXXXX+ was brown and xpXXXX+ was green

its just the way amd decided
it doesnt make a difference akaik

open up wcpuid (or go download, then open it up) and see what it tells you for the name string (leaveit at defualt speeds)

there is no label withstepping info?

Don't have it know, already sent the combo to the customer. I do have another XP 1700+ here laying loose, and it HAS NOTHING printed on the actual CPU CHIP itself the way the Athlon and Duron do. It's instead a label, and the label does NOT say XP anywhere on it, just "AMD Athlon". On the label is AXDA1700LT3C and I can find no info on that #. Below that # on the same label is RIUGA 0235MPMW, no info on it either. Is this an "MP" CPU??

Yep, 1700DLT3C. Those 0's & D's are hard to distinguish.

Again, sorry....I'm not familiar with Socket "A" CPU's; so is this an XP, or is it not an XP? Now that number I did find, but no hits from AMD's website. All hits I do find on it states it is an XP.

Thanks for the info. :)

To sum up, what are nicknamed Thoroughbreds (Tbreds) and Paliminos are branded Athlon XP by AMD. Names such as Thoroughbred are the code names for internal AMD projects. AMD does not alway distinguish between variations of the chip die in their labeling, so techies need some word to talk about them. The most recent chip packages are like the ones you describe.
