I don't understand. This used to be a death penalty offense here. And right now L&R is full of people with single digit post counts firing up new threads that are obviosly fake, incendiary or just plain troll bait. So why so easy on this guy?

Huh? What is "obviosly fake, incendiary or just plain troll bait" about that thread?

I wasn't referring to that thread in particular but others have manufactured accounts specifically to troll in there.

I was just wondering about the duplicate accounts. No death penalty anymore? Just don't get abusive with it?

i don't know about him but i have seen other people spcifically state that they created a separate account just to post in L&R. I'm not sure anything was done about them though, because I don't spend much time there and didn't follow the threads.

I knew I should have quoted the mod's comment. Basically it said "if this is a duplicate account please use your regular account" And in this case, apparently, there was no duplicate account as the mods unlocked the thread and allowed the guy to keep posting. But the point being, no ban stick came out over the possibility of someone having a second acct.

but no .. no one is perma-banned over the *possibility* of someone having a second acct. But "new accounts may be banned based on strong circumstantial evidence or the appearance that they may be secondary accounts."

Proof is required before any action is taken and it is pretty easy to check - so perhaps "your case" was not a duplicate account
... anyway to talk about a specific instance one would have to actually see it ... "descriptions" of it are not good enough.

why wasn't this posted earlier instead of giving everyone asking about it the run-around for 10 posts? Oldsmoboat should have just said no, it's not allowed or at least linked the rules. It shouldn't have taken 4 different mods to chime in before an answer was given.

You just have to realize that your request was being temporarily ignored while other questions were answered and clarified. allisolm answered your question pretty quickly and fairly imo - and the discussion continued with the OP after you were satisfied.

Perhaps you should be mod and you can learn how easy it is to satisfy every question and every poster in a timely manner.

I'm saying the answer to the OP's question should have been an easy answer. the specific question was asked once in the title, once again by the OP further down, and asked twice by myself. it depends on how you ask and if you unnecessarily complicate the question with examples that have little bearing on your question.
