Full size, rwd, body on frame design lends itself well to police work. I see many depts moving to the Chevy Tahoe SUV as of late.... other truck-based vehicles would also benefit from such fleet sales...

I don't know why police insist on using RWD cars, especially in areas with snow.

Lower maintenance costs, cheaper repairs, more consistent handling characteristics

Yea, those are all legitimate reasons. But in inclimate weather, the crown vics are pretty much useless out there on the roads, and they only have so many SUV's to use.

Nonsense. I can tell you haven't driven one in the snow. I have and the car performs fine in the snow.

Maybe you were never taught to drive? You do not need FWD for snow driving.

you get better traction in a FWD car in the snow. period.

the upside to the RWD car is that the stakes aren't as high if you fuck up. as long as you're not totally retarded, worst case is you get stuck. if the drive wheels lose traction in a FWD car, you've also lost steering, so that's gonna be bad.
