No more IRP Stack Locations?

I am attempting to install a new printer, (HP1350 all-in-one). First I uninstalled the old one. Then started the new installaion, following the instructions. All goes well until just after it installs the drivers. I get a blue screen (briefly) that has had more than one different message but the last one said "No more IRP Stack Locations". I did a google search on this and although there is some info, none seemed specific or close to this case. The blue screen stays on briefly and then the system restarts. I changed the cable, made sure all other programs were shut down (Antivirus, etc) but no help. I even tried plugging it into differenct USB ports but always got the same results. I'm stuck on this one.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Edit:
Ok, so I said to heck with the instructions and installed the software without connecting the printer during the process. Then I plugged the printer into a USB port and let XP do it's thing. Seemed to work for a while (didn't crash right away) but then got the blue screen crash. After that, I went into device manager and removed/uninstalled the items that had the question mark surrounded by the yellow "blast". I then plugged the printer back in and it reinstalled itself. This time it seemed to work. So far I have managed to print and scan with it. However, scanning seems to be horribly slow and there is still the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the systray. Not sure what to do next.

Gee, ain't no one got an idea....Bump!? This thing slows the system down to a crawl when scanning.
