I recently picked this game up because I had heard from a friend that it was unique, full of personality and a must play for me. Since I beat Burnout Paradise (passed my A License) and I was looking for something new until DMC4 hit, I took him up on his suggestion.
So Enter No More Heroes. Let me get this out of the way--I love this game. I was going to play the game for an hour or so just to be able to give a quick impression but I couldnt put the Wiimote down. It reminds me of a little bit of GTA, a touch of Killer 7, and a dash of God Hand. Let me explain. The world you travel around in between assassination missions is open world like GTA traveling around on your super-badass-ridiculously-huge motorcycle. The world is not as detailed or exciting as GTAs, but it's not really the point. It is kind of just there to drive around in to get from one destination to another. Yes, there are little things like dumpsters to kick open for goodies and hidden items to gather, but it's not as essential to the game as it is in GTA. The Killer 7 refference is because of the game's look. God Hand is refferenced because of the game's additude and personality. This game know's exactly what it is and what it's trying to be. I highly recommend you watch the GameTrailers review to get the gist of what I'm talking about.

PLOT
The story behind the game is basically, you're an aspiring assassin (ranked #12) who wants to be #1. You need to work your way up the line killing all the assassins along the way in order to do so, each time paying money to move forward (booking fees
). Here is the wiki entry on the subject:
GAMEPLAY
Insane! No not while you're driving around town, but when you actually go through the boss missions (assassins). The game incorporates Wii motions well and avoids the waggle effect (except when you need to charge your lightsaber, which requires you to hit the "1" button and then waggle the controller which creates a motion very similar to...well...take a look for yourself. But the fighting is fast and furious. You use the nunchuck "Z" to lock on to people (and as a nice touch, it will automatically switch to the next closest enemy once you kill your current locked-on target) and movement. The Wiimote's "A" is your action (swing) button as well as the "B" being your kick button. The kick is good for enemies who are blocking. This will basically knock them dizzy, allowing you to grab (B again) them and perform several types of body slams (you learn new moves from watching mexican wrestling videos, heh) on them. Also, when you perform multiple combos on enemies and they're almost dead, you will be prompted to perform a death slash, which is essentially a slice of the Wiimote in the direction the game prompts you.
I've only put in about 4 hours in to the game, but I'm love'n it so much I wanted to post this to let people know this highly unique, fun, incredibily entertaining game is worth a shot. But I think for some (most?) people, it will require an open mind going in. From it's artistic theme that runs through out the game, to its retro pixeled HUD, one cannot deny it's attempt to stand out.
Also, it does have some minor faults. Like the graphics are all around the scale. They go from amazingly artistic and awesome (everything that requires fighting) to PS2 GTA (driving around town). Also, the motocycle handles like shit. But it's fine, because you cannot die in town--it's not about Burnout, GTA or any other sandbox world. Thats just not the point of that part of the game. The music is just kickass through and through ranging from classical (in some particular boss fights) to rock depending on the area.
The M rating is deserved too. Lots and lots of blood, there is cursing, sexually suggestive situations, and I hear (havent seen it for myself) that there is partial nudity as well.
Oh, one more thing. Something awesome that I have to mention is the fact that right before each boss right, Sylvia (the girl who books your assassination attempts) will call you on your cell phone, which requires you to pick up the Wiimote and put it to your ear to listen to what she has to say about the guy your about to face.
I just hope that between this post and the GT video review some of you will give this game a shot.
Feel free to post any questions if you like.

The story follows Travis Touchdown, who is a stereotypical otaku?his motel room decorated with professional wrestling and anime collectibles?living in near poverty in the No More Heroes motel of Santa Destroy, California. After winning a beam katana in an internet auction, he becomes a hitman. When he runs out of money to buy video games, he accepts a job to kill the 'Drifter' aka Helter Skelter, which earns him rank 11 by the UAA, a governing body of assassins. Realizing that he has now made himself a target for aspiring assassins, he sets out to secure himself as the number one hitman in the UAA.
