I was on the support with ATI the other day regarding a problem with the Winfast 2000XP Deluxe being detected as an old TV Wonder VE I tried long time back. They helped me solve it. Anyway, at the end of the conversation I asked if and when the next ATI AIW card will be released. The guy on the phone said that the past few years its been released around the end of the year. I asked him if that will happen again in hopes that the 9700Pro AIW would come down before the end of the year. He coughed a couple times and said that it has been at the end of the year for the past 3 years.

By the way he was coughing I get the feeling he was kind of telling me that there won't be another AIW release till the end of the year. Anyone else have info contradicting or agreeing with this?

Well, the next product cycle for ATI will be the 9800 coming out within Q2-Q3 total fulfillment.

Honestly, it isn't a huge performance gain, so it's hard to say whether or not there will be an AIW release of the 9800.

The 9800 will hit during the next nVidia product cycle.

To look clearly, there will be no major improvement until the end of the year, so it may be possible.

To release an AIW 9800 would be like releasing both a GF3 AIW and a ti500 AIW: the improvements and market may not neccasarily demand a new AIW.

Prognosis: The ATI rep was probably right.

Should be a 9800 Pro, All-in-Wonder, 256 MB card by July. There IS one in the works, and last reseller based in Canada I talked to expected that as the delivery date.
