I'd like to see the scan from the magazine itself or an offical press release.

If it is true, heh, its about time. Had it been priced around 50k, it'd be a much higher selling/better value car, but at its current price range, its a ripoff. Killing the S2000 is more significant IMO, thats one nice car.

I'm not too surprised, but it's kinda sad. The more MR vehicles the better. They really waited too long. The car when from being very competitive to sadly not.

Instead of the S2000 maybe they're going to bring back the Type-R Integra (RSX)?

If they made the TL into a RWD that thing would REALLY cut into sales of the 3-series and G35.

Integras have always been FWD, and the RSX is the replacement for the Integra. Why would they cancel the S2000, a RWD roadster, for a FWD coupe they already have a replacement for?

If anything, they'll make an RSX-R if they ever wanted to re-introduce the ITR.

But you're right about the TL, perfect car aside from the FWD.

Why the S2000?

The NSX has potential IMO, it's been a great car mechanically, just needs better planning such as cheaper methods of building it (not by hand) and a lower overall price with a more powerful engine. Sure, that sounds like a lot, but since they didn't change much of it over the years, it's what's needed.

The TL already outsells the G35, and sales for the TL are alrady up over 30 percent this year. The TL is living up to Acura's expectations very well.

First off, I'll admit I'm an NSX fanboi. I think it is one of the greatest GT sports cars ever built. Back in 1990, it was the first application of VTEC technology on any consumer production car...previously Honda had only used it in F1. But that was back in 1990. The original Lotus Esprit was a dreamy exotic back when it first came out...with a 4-cylinder engine. Who remembers the Porsche 944? Nowadays they couldn't hold a candle to your everyday Civic Si. A similar problem presents itself with the NSX and its V6 engine. You can only get so much power out of a naturally-aspirated V6! Honda needed new sh*t or they should've gotten off the pot a long time ago.

About the price--the problem is when the original NSX rolled out of the assembly line, it didn't roll off an assembly line. It was meant to compete with exotics so it was built like an exotic...with critical components assembled by hand. Now I don't know if the current engine is still assembled by hand or how much automation they have with NSX production in Tochigi, but I would imagine it is still an expensive car to build, so they can't really lower the price. Look at the glass cockpit and all-aluminum body. Besides, lowering the price would kill the brand...basic marketing.

What they should have done is stopped production of the NSX a long time ago and replaced it with a cheaper, mass-produced watered-down version (would have cemented its status as an exotic with a limited run, though they still don't have trouble holding their value!)

The only other option is to redo it from the ground-up, but I think Honda realizes its too late for that. They should have put in a V8 years ago (like when Lotus did?) If they ever make an almost-supercar again, it will not bear the NSX name.

Actually, I believe the NSX is the first US market VTEC engine. The first VTEC engine IIRC was the B16A in Japan in 1988 or 89, I don't remember for sure. Its an earlier version of the same engine found in the Del Sol VTEC and the 99-00 Civic Si.

"No matter how hard it tried, it was never a Ferrari."

The NSX was a great car. Maybe it was never the best at anything, but overall, it was a great car. If only Honda had managed it differently, it might still be with us today.
