no monitor/video signal!

so I'm building a cheap ass computer with an amd xp cpu and a winfast k7s741mg motherboard (it was like 60 dollars)

but i can't get a signal to the monitor at ALL, not even the bios, nothing

any Ideas?

help is greatly appriciated

Are you using the onboard video, or do you have a video card?

Does anything happen when you power up? Any beeps? Fans spinning? Do you know the monitor works?

Check your RAM. If there are no beeps at startup, your ram could be faulty. Try using a different dimm. If you have more than one dimm on the system, try booting with one dimm at a time, one of them might be bad.

Hi... sometimes this symptom is a sign of a bad motherboard too. Hopefully it is one of a zillion other things!
