I still don't understand it, am I retarded? It sounds like some sort of elaborate pyramid scheme.
 
It is kind of is a pyramid scheme when you think about it, but then most monetary systems are.

For anything to be worth value, you gotta convince a lot of people to believe that it's worth the money you're paying into it. Doesn't matter if it's a piece of gold, a house, a stock certificate, a bank account balance statement, or a Bitcoin.
