what sickens me worse is FGM, known as female genital mutilation. i read it in my sociology book yesteday while studying for the test today. and the thing is, that it's culturally accepted in some parts of the middle east to discourage sexual pleasures for women in order to keep their virginity so that they will have honor when given away in marriage.

It's done in MANY country's.

Africa is another one that is BIG on this practice.

In some places of Africa, women's 'lips' are sewn shut. There was this one time, a girl's was sewn so tight that her belly grew because of all the blood that couldn't get out (menstruation), and then she was killed because people thought she was pregnant.
